Create a drum!
Difficulty: All Ages
Materials Needed:
- Any Can with a Lid
- Construction Paper
- Tape or glue
- Paper Bag
- Rubber Bands
- Crayons, Markers, Or Paint
Instructions:
Cut a piece of construction paper to fit around the can so that it is
completely covered. Draw or paint different designs and shapes on
it, and tape or glue it onto can.
You're ready to beat on the lid and make music!
Make a Rain Stick
Difficulty: All ages
Materials Needed:
- Paper Towel Roll
- Brown Packing Tape (the kind you can write on)
- Tin Foil
- Rice
- Crayons, Markers or paint
Instructions:
Tape one end of the roll completely.
Roll the tinfoil into a tight tube, then twist it to make a long
"spring" shape.
Put this spring down into the tube.
Put a small handful of rice into tube.
Tape the open end.
Decorate the tube with markers, paint, etc.
Turn it on end to play! |

Create a Didgeridoo
Difficulty: Need an adult for this one!
Materials Needed:
- one piece of 2 1/2" PVC pipe (the hardware store can cut this
for you)
- One block of bee's wax (try your local coop - you probably don't
want to harvest this yourself)
- One piece of medium grain sandpaper
- Permanent markers or paint
Instructions:
Lightly sand the outside of the pipe.
Use paint or permanent markers to decorate the outside.
Melt the beeswax in a double boiler or crock pot and use a dull knife to
apply it to the end of the pipe, building up a mouthpiece. Once
cool, start playing. |
